100% Korean

Side Dishes: eggplant, bean sprouts, peanuts, kimchi, salty fish, egg. (J) Never had this type of eggplant before. It was tasty. (S) I preferred the appetizers they had last time we were there.

Special A: dolsot bibimbap, soup and short ribs. (J) Ribs were nice and sweet. (S) Bibimbap was good as always, I like the purple rice a lot.

Special C: pork bone soup, rice and seafood rice cake. (J) Soup was better this time; there was more meat and the broth was spicier. Rice cake was peppery. (S) I was expecting the spicy rice cake drowned in red sauce, but this was a nice surprise.

Albany Club

J Work Christmas Party

Appetizer: truffle soup, served with bread and butter. (J) Warm and creamy. This was really good. (S) I really liked its earthy and creamy taste.

Main: veal and shrimp. (J) Veal was nice and soft. I don't know what the topping was, but it was tasty. (S) The meat came out a bit colder than I liked, but otherwise, it was nice.

Vegetarian Main: rice and chick pea stuffed pepper, topped with tomato sauce. (J) I opted for veggies so we would have more variety. (S) The stuffed pepper was pretty good!

Dessert: chocolate Yule log. (J) Lots of cream. One of my fruits was rotten. (S) Too much cream for me.

Momiji

Miso Soup & Salad. (J) Salad dressing had a strong orange taste that I enjoyed. (S) The same citrus scent was throughout the restaurant, not that I minded. It was refreshing.

Love Bridge B: spider roll 9 pcs, spicy roll 6 pcs, nigiri 12 pcs. (J) I've never had a bridge before, and I thought it was a great alternative to a boat. There was also a fire in the little white cup! Spider rolls were really good. (S) Mmm...I liked the variety. Would have been easier if things were split into 3s though.

Maki Dinner B: dynamite roll 9 pcs, California roll 6 pcs and spicy roll 6pcs. (J) I liked the crunchy bits in the spicy rolls. (S) I didn't love the spicy rolls :P The dynamite rolls I enjoyed, though.

Churros: chocolate and vanilla with ice cream (?) dipping sauces. (J) Desserts were 25% off, so we had to try one. The menu called these "Chewrros"! They tasted good like Tiny Tom donuts. (S) This seemed out of place in a Japanese restaurant, but it was nice and sugary.

Pho Metro Asian Cuisine

Strawberry Smoothie & Rice Rolls: pork, shrimp, vermicelli and mint rolls with a peanut dipping sauce. (J) I normally don't like mint leaves, but the sauce made it good. Smoothie was nice and sweet like candy. (S) I liked that the wraps stuck together, it didn't fall apart after biting into it. The sauce definitely made it yummy.

Pho: large size; with brisket, rare beef, flank and tripe. (J) Pho broth was so good. There was lots of meat. (S) This was so good on a cold day. I especially enjoyed all the tripe and brisket, awesome!

Vermicelli: with grilled chicken and spring roll. (J) Hot meat and roll were balanced by cool noodles and veggies. (S) This was nice and light. I've always liked the noodles/peanuts combo.

Bombay Bhel

Chili Chicken: with peppers; medium spice. (J) Medium was not spicy at all, I should have gotten hot instead. It could have used some sauce. (S) It was spicy, but not enough to deter me.

Korma: lamb korma and basket of naan. (J) Korma was so good. Fresh naan was so hot and fluffy, I could eat it by itself. (S) The lamb korma was so good! I like how creamy and sweet it was. The meat was good too. It was so good with the naan.

Oh Boy Burger Market

Cincinnati Style Chili & Spicy Boy Burger: (J) Chili had no beans and was very meaty. Burger had jalapeños, spicy cheese and rocket sauce(?). It was pretty good, but I found the meat in both items a bit salty. (S) Yea, everything was salty. I really really liked the meaty chili though (maybe even more so than the burgers).

Lamb Burger & Sweet Potato Fries: (J) Burger had strong blue cheese. Fries were fresh and hot. I liked how they gave us a big bottle of water. (S) I had to scrape off the blue cheese, it was way overpowering that I couldn't taste the rest of the burger. We wanted onion rings, but they were out, boo.

Amigo Steak & Seafood House

Salad: with fried scallops. (J) Lots of creamy dressing. The scallops were crispy and light. (S) I was so hungry at this point that I even ate the scallops. The salad dressing was refreshing.

Calamari Rings: (J) The lemon made it really good. (S) Yumm, more seafood! I like the crispies.

Spaghetti: with ham and chicken. (J) I was thinking tomato sauce when I ordered, but it came with a creamy sauce. Huge portion size; I was full after the appetizers.

Salmon: (S) The few bites I had of the fish was pretty good. I couldn't finish it because I was too full from appetizers.

Mango Mousse: (J) Nice and light. Went down easy. (S) We took a couple more of these home :P

Scarboro Golf & Country Club

Gary & Vivien's Wedding

Hors d'oeuvres

Champagne cocktail, chicken skewers, meatball, battered shrimp, spanakopita. (J) My favourites were the shrimp and spanakopita. Cocktail was nice and fruity. Unfortunately I didn't get to try a meatball. (S) Spanakopitas were the best! I could have had so many, but I didn't want to spoil dinner. I didn't get the try the battered shrimp.

Soup: carrot and ginger soup. (J) Tasted exactly how it sounds. (S) Exactly. I liked that it was nice and thick.

Salad: Boston bibb lettuce with oven roasted tomatoes and bocconcini cheese, basil and balsamic vinaigrette. (J) I liked the texture of the cheese. (S) I liked the sweetness of the vinaigrette and the tomatoes. I've never had to cut my lettuce before though; that was fun.

Chicken Entree: herb roasted chicken breast with a shallot and cremini mushroom sauce, cheddar and bacon potato croquette, cauliflower and green beans. (S) I liked the mushroom sauce on the chicken, and it wasn't dry. (J) I liked the sauce too. I thought the croquette would be fried and crispy, but it wasn't.

Beef Entree: 8 oz beef strip loin with a thyme infused red wine sauce, cheddar and bacon potato croquette, cauliflower and green beans. (S) The beef was so nice. I liked how it was tender, and the gravy was really good too, I dipped everything in it (and so did J). (J) The sauce made the meat tasty.

Dessert: creme brulee with fresh berry sauce. (S) This creme brulee was so good! I liked the big portion because I like creme brulee. (J) The creme brulee was huge and creamy. I liked the sweet berry sauce.

Dessert Table

Wedding cake, chocolate cake, eclair, fruits, butter tart, carrot cake. (S) I was way too full to eat all this. The tart was really good though. (J) The wedding cake was lemon and moist. There were so many LaRocca cakes to choose from; I wanted to try them all, but I was too full.

Poutine Plus

Poutine: large "Tree hugger": caramelized onions, mushrooms and roasted garlic oil, with vegetarian gravy. (J) The sweet onions with the poutine confused my taste buds. The gravy left a vegetable soup powder aftertaste that wasn't bad. (S) I liked the sweet onions in the poutine, not confusing at all. Squeeky cheese is the best!

Hot Dog: Nathan's hot dog. (J) Juicy and meaty. (S) Pretty darn good.

Gal Sushi

CL7: lunch combo. (J) I got the lucky cat cup again. I didn't expect that this would fill me up, but the teriyaki salmon was very filling.

CL8: lunch combo. (S) I always like the salad dressing from this restaurant. The sashimi was really good, and so were the glass noodles. Yumm, so filling!

Toko Sushi

RedFlagDeals Deal of the Day

Miso Soup & Green Salad: (J) Soup was nice and hot. Salad had good orange dressing.

Chicken Udon: (J) big, filling bowl. (S) The soup looked clean, and the chicken kinda tasted like nothing, lol.

Tempura Appetizer, Edamame & Glass Noodles: (J) Tempura was hot and fresh. We didn't even touch the glass noodles and brought them home because we had too much food. (S) I could have had more edamame. The glass noodles tasted very salty.

3 Yellow Plates: cucumber and avocado rolls, rice-filled tofu, and egg sushi. (J) Tofu and egg were nice and sweet. (S) I liked the sweets.

2 Green Plates: cucumber rolls topped with shrimp or imitation crab. (S) The mayo was interesting.

2 Red Plates: spicy salmon and salmon rolls. (J) Rolls got better at the red plate level. I liked the spicy rolls with crispy bits on top. (S) Spicy was ok, I liked the flakey more.

1 Blue Plate: tempura shrimp rolls topped with eel and fish eggs. (J) Tempura was soft. Looked like the turnover rate for blue plates wasn't too high. (S) Eel was nice and I liked the fish eggs.

Desserts: green tea mochi (left); tempura ice cream (right): fried dough ball filled with green tea ice cream, served with chocolate sauce, cream, cantaloupe and lemon slices. (J) Mochi was semi-frozen yet chewy, and had a very good flavour. The tempura ice cream plate was a very odd combination, but I enjoyed it a lot. (S) Although the tempura ice cream looks much more exciting, I really liked the mochi because of its texture and taste. The tempura ice cream got pretty messy in the end, and I wasn't a big fan of the lemon/green tea ice cream.
