BuskerFest

Rotini & Tomato Sauce: $3 (J) I was disappointed that there was no rose sauce like last year, but the tomato sauce was tangy good and the pasta was al dente. (S) This is tradition. We get it every time, too bad there were no coupons for the Old Spaghetti Factory this time.

Angus Burger: $5. (J) Meaty goodness. (S) The burger was pretty good!

Spinach Pie: aka spanakopita $3.50. (J) This was really good. I liked how there was spinach in the whole spiral. (S) Yea, it was packed full of spinach.

Kettle corn: small bag $4. (J) We got the small bag this time because we could never finish the large one. Sweet and salty flavours mixed perfectly together. (S) Wasn't freshly popped, but still good as always.

Designer Cookie

Cupcakes: vanilla, lemon, apple cinnamon, and red velvet. (J) Four free cupcakes each thanks to a FabFind! Their menu explains the flavours much better. I liked them all. The icing was buttery. (S) The lady before us took all the Creme Brulee-flavoured ones, she took a couple for free and then bought the very last one...just to spite us! Grr. Other than that, I liked the lemon cupcake a lot. Yumm.

CNE

Pizza: Hawaiian and deluxe slices with pop $5.50. (J) We had a coupon for a free slice with the purchase of a slice and drink. Nice thin crust with lots of ingredients. (S) I think this was the healthiest meal we had today.

Deep Fried Butter: topped with powdered sugar and various sauces $5. (J) Lighter than I expected. The middle was hollow and filled with melted butter. The salty middle balanced well with the sweet toppings. (S) I was expecting to see more butter, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

Ice Cream Waffle Sandwich: $3.50. (J) Ours didn't last too long because the ice cream was already melting before they made it. (S) Yea, boo! I wanted another one to make up for this one, but that would have been too much.

Breakfast Mac and Cheese: with egg and sausage from the Mac & Cheesery. (J) Egg was burnt on the bottom. Pasta was kinda mushy. Top tasted good, but the bottom parts were tasteless. (S) I liked the sausages and the top, cheesy layer. Otherwise, the mac & cheese tasted like nothing.

Chicken & Curly Fries: from Kentucky Style Chicken. (J) The chicken didn't have any herbs or spices. It was cooked well though. Fries were stuck together, which made them hard to eat. (S) Lesson learned: if you want fried chicken, go to Popeyes or KFC. There was no seasoning on this.

Taste of the Danforth

Brazilian Sandwich: beef, onions and Brazilian sauce $5. (J) I don't know what Brazilian sauce was. The onions were caramelized and tasty. (S) I liked the beef and onion combo...yumm...

Elk Taco: $3. (J) Not sure what the elk tasted like, but the other ingredients made the whole thing taste good. (S) It was very refreshing.

Spinach Pie: $3. (J) Flaky dough was good. (S) YUMM!!!!!

Strawberry Smoothie: $2. (J) Good and sweet. Hit the spot after several savoury treats. (S) So cheapo compared to other drinks in the area.

Pork Souvlaki: $3. (J) Big and juicy. (S) Good thing we got there early before the lineup, it was so good!!

Chicken Gyro: $5. (J) We wanted lamb, but they only had chicken or pork. Always satisfying. (S) I was pretty full after this. The fries are a nice touch.

BioBest: probiotic yogurt smoothies free samples. (J) Drinks were always appreciated with all the eating and high temperature. (S) Free probiotic-goodness.

Custard Pie: $2.50. (J) Extremely flakey and not too sweet. Just a little bit of custard inside. (S) I must get this and the spinach pie each year. So good!!

Popsicles: lulo and lukuma flavours, 2 for $5. (J) We tried the exotic flavours. Lulo was sour like a pineapple, but refreshing. Lukuma was an odd flavour, I guess like a prune. The latter was more filling because it was made with milk. (S) The popsicles made my lips itchy for some reason, but they were interesting to try anyways.

Mango Smoothie: $2. (J) Still thirsty so we had to get another one. I was disappointed that they just used syrup and ice, and not real fruits. (S) Still good on a hot day!

St. Louis Bar and Grill

Cobb Salad: lettuce, chicken, cucumber, tomato, cheese, egg, jalapeno bacon, onion and Italian dressing. (J) The bacon had a nice kick to it. I avoided the onions. (S) I liked how everything was separated. Yumm!

Basket O’ Fries: with garlic and dill sauce. (J) So consistently good, I don't know how they do it. (S) Dill sauce was good as always. I like the ridges in the fries, catches all the dill sauce.

Wings: honey garlic (top) and authentic buffalo (bottom). (J) Free wings for Twitter followers! The buffalo wings didn't have much sauce and almost tasted plain. Honey garlic was good. (S) The buffalo wings was a little spicy. I liked the honey garlic though. Yay for free!!

Mississauga Convention Centre

Claire & Peter's Wedding

Hors d'oeuvres

Cold: chicken wrap, cucumber thing, salmon on bread, stuffed thing; Hot: deep fried pickle, spring roll, mushroom pastry, sausage wrap, beef pie, quiche. (J) I really liked all the hot items. The pickle was really unusual but tasty. (S) The deep fried pickle was a nice surprise. I also really liked the mini beef pie, reminded me of a Jamaican beef patty, yumm...

Dinner

Starters: cream of potato and leek soup (top), salad greens with balsamic vinaigrette, salmon and rice (bottom). (S) The soup was soooo good. I liked how thick it was, and the green onion was super tasty. The portion of salmon was sooo big. It was moist and very good as well. The rice was really good too. I would have been very satisfied if the food stopped here. (J) Soup was creamy. I liked the olives in the rice. The portion size was that of a main!

Main Entree: filet mignon, chicken breast stuffed with sundried tomatoes & goat cheese, Parisienne potatoes & vegatables. (J) The steak was bacon wrapped, which was a surprise. Meats were tasty and moist, but stomach was running out of room! (S) I finished the steak; it was so moist and done just right. I could not finish the chicken, though it was also very good. I liked the stuffing in it.

Dessert: ice creme crepe with blueberry sauce, chocolate triangle and whipped cream. (J) This reminded me of an ice cream waffle. Not sure what the tomato thing was. (S) I wish there was more chocolate on the crepe, but otherwise, yumm!

Seafood Platter: lobster, clam, mussel, shrimp. (J) Seafood had a nice sauce. I only ate a little of this so I would have more room for desserts. (S) I only had a mussel and clam, but I really wanted to try the lobster...darn allergies!

Dessert Table

Pastries, almond cake, custard, wedding cake, fruits, carrot cake, cheesecake, chocolate cake, flan tart, cannoli. (J) I liked the variety. (S) So many desserts. We wanted to try them all, yumm!
