Hana Korea

Appetizers: pickled radish, kimchi, tofu, edamame and glass noodles.

Dumplings (J) We got steamers to not aggravate our stomachs. (S) The texture of the wrap had a good chew, and it wasn't soggy. I liked that.

Dolsot Bibimbap (S) I always get the same thing, only because I know I will undoubtedly like it. I usually don't like to touch the food until the rice has crisped up, but the rice came separately.

Gamjatang (J) I'm always eager to eat this and burn my tongue. There was a huge bone with lots of meat at the bottom! Not at all spicy. (S) I agree, not spicy so that I could eat it and it was delicious. The meat was so soft and fall-off-the-bone good.

100% Korean

Side Dishes: egg, tempura vegetables, green onions (?), cucumber, small fish, kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts. (J) The egg and bean sprouts were too salty this time. Green onions were surprisingly good. I really liked the tempura with its sweet sauce. (S) I really liked these sides, they were delicious, especially the tempura.

Jap Chae: (J) Didn't eat too much of this because of the amount of other foods. (S) I had to have some fresh, tasty as always.

Stone Pot Bibimbap: served with soup. (S) The usual for me. This came with 2 sauces, one brownish and one reddish. I liked the brown one, though I really couldn't tell what was in it. The bibimbap ingredients were really nice. I waited a while before mixing it all up to get the crispy rice at the bottom.

Pork Bone Soup: (J) Nice mountain of pork bones with lots of meat. This batch was not that spicy. (S) I could eat it, so it wasn't too spicy. Looked like a mountain of meat from across the table.

Cho Won

Side Dishes: bean sprouts, beans, kimchi, veggies, leaves (seaweed?). (J) I'm not sure what the leaves in the bottom right were, but they were nasty; salty and tough. (S) I only had the glazed beans and bean sprouts; they were both good.

Fried Chicken: in sweet, sour and spicy sauce. (J) Fluffier than the one at Oh Geul Boh Geul. I could eat the whole plate (serves 4) with just a big bowl of rice. (S) It wasn't even as spicy as the last one, and it was much crunchier, so tasty!

Tofu Soup: medium spice with bits of seafood and meat. (J) I liked it, but I should have gotten low spice for S. (S) Too spicy, couldn't finish it.

Dolsot Bibimbap: (J) Originally I wanted pork bone soup, but they didn't have any. I think they rushed this dish because it wasn't sizzling when it arrived and the rice didn't get crispy. (S) Yea, was disappointed that it didn't crisp up.

Oh Geul Boh Geul

Side Dishes: pancake, bean sprouts, potatoes, noodles, tofu, potato salad, kimchi and veggies. (J) A huge assortment here. I got filled from eating just these. (S) The pancake was a bit too greasy for me.

Fried Chicken: in sweet, sour and spicy sauce. (J) Crispy and saucy. I liked the spice. This dish was big enough to feed four people. (S) This was too spicy for me to eat too much of. It was crispy and saucy enough though.

Tofu Soup: in a clear broth with some bits of meat; served with purple rice. (J) Didn't really pay attention to this as I was eating the rice with the fried chicken instead. I think the broth was good. (S) I liked the tofu soup!

Dolsot Bibimbap: (J) Always a safe bet to order. (S) Pretty standard stuff. I didn't get purple rice under all the ingredients though, I guess I was a bit disappointed.

Cho Won

Side Dishes: (clockwise from top left) radish, bean sprouts, beans, cucumber (zucchini?), seaweed and kimchi. (J) Not as flavourful as other Korean restaurants.

Dolsot Bibimbap: (S) This was OK, tasted pretty standard.

Gamja Tang: (J) Wow I had a lot of pork bones! Lots of meat too! Too bad it wasn't spicy at all. I also liked the yogurt drinks we got with the bill.

100% Korean

Side Dishes: eggplant, bean sprouts, peanuts, kimchi, salty fish, egg. (J) Never had this type of eggplant before. It was tasty. (S) I preferred the appetizers they had last time we were there.

Special A: dolsot bibimbap, soup and short ribs. (J) Ribs were nice and sweet. (S) Bibimbap was good as always, I like the purple rice a lot.

Special C: pork bone soup, rice and seafood rice cake. (J) Soup was better this time; there was more meat and the broth was spicier. Rice cake was peppery. (S) I was expecting the spicy rice cake drowned in red sauce, but this was a nice surprise.

100% Korean

Side Dishes: peanuts, kimchi, pickled radish, bean sprouts, seaweed and salty fish things. (J) We ate everything except the salty fish. (S) It took a while to come, our mains came out shortly after the side dishes got to us. I liked all of them tho...yumm!

Dolsot Bibimbap: vegetables, beef and egg on rice. (S) I really like the purple rice and how it's not tasteless like others. Adding peanuts (from side dish) gave it a nice crunch.

Gamjatang: spicy pork bone soup. (J) My bowl had a lot of bones without meat. Good spicy broth.

Phone: (416) 297-8911

Beef Dolsot Bibimbap: (S) I didn't want to share this because it tasted so good.

Bow Bulgogi: served with rice. (J) I chose this because that's what the place was called, it had to be good. Beef was marinated. Lots of cabbage. I didn't know if it was a soup or not. The liquid was sweet. I liked the glass noodles hidden at the bottom.

Bow Bulgogi House

Address: 4002 Sheppard Ave E , Scarborough, ON, M1S 4R5
Phone: (416) 297-8911

Side Dishes: potatoes, pickled radish, bean spouts, kimchi, tofu, and bonus free dumplings. (S) Yay for freebies! I liked the tofu and dumplings a lot! (J) Mmm pried dumplings. The potatoes were too peppery for me.

Miso soup

Beef Bibimbap: (S) This is my go-to Korean dish. I know it's never spicy, and it tastes good. I let the crackle die down before mixing it up, that's when you get the crispy rice. Yumm.

Vegetables Bibimbap (J) I felt like I needed to eat vegetables, and this hit the spot.

Bow Bulgogi House

Phone: (416) 297-8911

Side Dishes: pickled vegetable, kimchi, fried tofu, bean sprouts, and potatoes. (S) The fried tofu was really good, too bad it wasn't refill-able like the other dishes were. (J) Potatoes were peppery.

Dolsot Bibimbap: served with miso soup. (S) Yumm...I really like bibimbap. I liked how this one was flavourful; I've had bland ones before. (J) The special sauce was sweet. Apparently it's the most expensive sauce they have, made from many ingredients.

Gamja Tang: spicy pork bone soup, served with rice. (S) Spiiiicy, I did not dare to try. (J) Mmm made me sweat.

Side Dishes: (clockwise from top left) seaweed, fish cake, kimchi, potatoes, and tofu. (S) The side dishes area always plentiful. I really like the potatoes. Yumm! (J) I like them all.

Dolsot Bibimbap: (S) I really like crunchy rice. This is always my favourite when we go Korean. (J) The egg yolk mixed well with the rice.

Kamjatang: (S) The massive piece of meat I got wasn't too spicy. It tasted pretty good. (J) This place makes good soup broth. I could actually taste the vegetable or meat stock, and was not overpowered by spice.

Red Bean Fish: from Galleria. (S) Yummy little guy. (J) Good alternative to his red bean ice cream brother.

Miso Soup, Salad & Tea: (S) I liked the salad dressing. I also liked the cups. (J) Yes, "ten ways to good health" is neat on a cup.

Lola Spicy Salmon Roll: salmon, cucumber, masago, tempura bit with rice paper. (S) Sooo spicy! It was slow to hit though, initial taste was good, then bam! (J) Rice paper was a nice change. Good amount of filling and spice level.

Dolsot Beef Bibim Bap: assorted vegetables and beef on rice with hot sauce. (S) I'm a big fan of this dish. Crunchy rice with so many toppings is so yummy. (J) This was a huge pot of rice.

Super Deluxe Bento: sashimi (9pcs) + tempura + salmon teriyaki + spring roll (2pcs) + roll (4pcs). (S) The chunk of teriyaki salmon was huge. I liked the veggie tempura and spring rolls. (J) Super Deluxe! Probably the biggest bento I've ever had. I liked how the tempera formed a tent, and the inclusion of spring rolls! I think the maki had beef in them, which is rare.

Hana Korea

Side dishes: kimchi, glass noodles, potato and cucumber. (J) They gave each of us our own dish instead of many little dishes. I like the water jugs. (S) Good sides.

Dolsot Bibimbap: beef, vegetables and egg. Rice and hot sauce on the side. (J) Filling. (S) I like crispy rice, so yummy!

Combo A: chicken teriyaki, beef dumplings and vegetable tempura. (J) The teriyaki sauce was good. Some pretty unusual tempura that I've never had before, such as mushroom and pepper. (S) I like veggie tempura, the chicken was pretty good too!

Seafood Udon: from Osaka Sushi. (J) Lots of little tentacles and weird processed fish slices. No big shrimps like in the picture. (S) I ate all the weird stuff :P

Stone Pot Bibimbap: from Jang Kang. (S) Kinda tasted like eating nothing...not much flavour going on.

Red bean fish: from the stand in front of the supermarket. (J) Tasted like waffles. Red bean filling oozes out. (S) These came in threes; they're crispy and yummy.
