Jack Astor's

Chicken BLT Poutine (J) Very good, but I found all the extra toppings unnecessary. (S) I liked all the extra toppings! All the flavours went nicely together, and the cheese curds were so delightfully squeaky.

Topless Steak Sandwich: with side Garden salad and Sassafrazz drink (fruit juices mixed with Sprite). (J) Side salad was big. I really liked the onion strings. Drink wasn't as fizzy as I thought it would be. (S) Yes, salad was big for a SIDE salad, but I'm not complaining. Steak and mushrooms go really well together and the onion rings topped it off with a crunch.

Señor Jack's Jalapeño Burger: with side of vegetables and Diet Coke. (J) Opted for a healthy veggie side. Burger was not very spicy, but satisfying. (S) I only had a tiny bit of this burger. It was spicy but not the spiciest I've tasted.

Joe Maggiano's

Maggiano’s Crab Cakes: (J) Light and crispy cakes. I could taste the crab. Good salad dressing and dill sauce. Everything got better when the lemon was squeezed on top. (S) The dill was so good! We dipped everything in it. The crab cakes had good texture, crunchy outside, soft inside. Yummm....

Curry Chicken Penne: chicken, zucchini, mushrooms and spinach in a curry rose sauce. (J) Interesting flavour. The curry worked. (S) I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted something with spinach but wasn't sure about the curry. It was very tasty!

Maggiano Burger: bacon, mushrooms, provolone, crispy onions and sweet potato fries. (J) I wanted to try this as soon as I saw the menu. Cheese and onions gave it good texture. Burger was thick and juicy. Chipotle sauce was good, but not as good as the dill. (S) That burger was big. Fries were good in dill sauce!

Hero Certified Burgers

Signature Burger Combos: burgers came standard with cheese, tomato and Hero sauce. Upgraded one fries to poutine.

(J) WagJag coupons gave us 50% off signature combos. I liked that they had unlimited fountain drinks. Burger bun had a nice chew to it, and the environmentally friendly wrapper was neat. (S) I was so hungry so I scarfed down the burger. I didn't really get to taste it because I ate it so quickly. It was that good...but no, really. I liked the buns and the sauce was good.

Oh Boy Burger Market

Cincinnati Style Chili & Spicy Boy Burger: (J) Chili had no beans and was very meaty. Burger had jalapeños, spicy cheese and rocket sauce(?). It was pretty good, but I found the meat in both items a bit salty. (S) Yea, everything was salty. I really really liked the meaty chili though (maybe even more so than the burgers).

Lamb Burger & Sweet Potato Fries: (J) Burger had strong blue cheese. Fries were fresh and hot. I liked how they gave us a big bottle of water. (S) I had to scrape off the blue cheese, it was way overpowering that I couldn't taste the rest of the burger. We wanted onion rings, but they were out, boo.

W Burger Bar

Complimentary veggies.

Pure Burger & Yukon Fries (1): beef burger cooked on the grill; topped with mixed greens, tomato, pickles, alfalfa sprouts, and chipotle ketchup on a regular bun.

Pure Burger & Yukon Fries (2): beef burger cooked on the flat top; topped with mixed greens, tomato, ketchup, cranberries and alfalfa sprouts on a whole wheat bun.

(J) $5 for a burger and fries thanks to a WagJag deal. Burgers were big and filling. Fries were fresh and lightly salted. I definitely have to go back and try the bison burger, poutine, onion rings (huge!) and other toppings. (S) You could tell that the meat was fresh and not frozen because it wasn't packed as tightly and the ground meat was falling apart a little bit. This is what I call a thick & juicy burger. Apparently, burgers cooked on the flat top are juicier...agreed, yumm! Definitely will go back to try the lamb burger.

BuskerFest

Rotini & Tomato Sauce: $3 (J) I was disappointed that there was no rose sauce like last year, but the tomato sauce was tangy good and the pasta was al dente. (S) This is tradition. We get it every time, too bad there were no coupons for the Old Spaghetti Factory this time.

Angus Burger: $5. (J) Meaty goodness. (S) The burger was pretty good!

Spinach Pie: aka spanakopita $3.50. (J) This was really good. I liked how there was spinach in the whole spiral. (S) Yea, it was packed full of spinach.

Kettle corn: small bag $4. (J) We got the small bag this time because we could never finish the large one. Sweet and salty flavours mixed perfectly together. (S) Wasn't freshly popped, but still good as always.

Canada's Wonderland

Behemoth Burger Combo: 1 lb patty, served with onion rings, drink and a free t-shirt (background). (J) This thing was huge, about an inch thick. I liked how cheese did not cost extra, but everything was expensive to begin with. Gravy on the burger prevented it from being dry. Onion rings were decent. This was a good choice to feed two people. (S) I was feeling a bit sick by this point, so J had to eat most of the burger. The onions rings went down very easily, though. I'm not sure I was a fan of the gravy on burger.

Funnel Cake: with icing sugar, ice cream and strawberries. (J) I've never had a funnel cake before, so I was excited to try this. I liked the dough string bits. Strawberries were soaked in very sweet syrup, but I'll count them as a serving of fruit anyway. It was all very good, but something I could only eat once a year at most. (S) Super sweet, and super calorific. Icing sugar was so messy, it got all over the place but tasted so good on the fried dough.

Herbie Burger: (J) Tasted like a veggie burger. They include a whole wheat bun to complete the healthy choice. (S) Tasted too healthy. The "meat" was crumbly, wasn't a big fan of that crumbly texture.

JuicyBurger: (J) Burger was moist, but once broken down it became chewy. (S) Not as good as other places, but not horrible.

Poutine: with root beer. (J) I haven't had poutine in a long time. This was really good, and it had real cheese curds too. (S) This was the highlight of the meal, too bad we ate it so quickly.

Veggie Burger: with sweet potato fries. (J) I ate fajitas first, so the burger didn't really taste like anything. I always like sweet potato fries. (S) The burger was cold when I got it, but the sweet potato fries made up for it. They tasted so good.

Chicken Fajitas: served on a tower. Top: cheese, lettuce, guacamole and salsa; middle: tortillas; bottom: chicken, onions and peppers. (J) I appreciated the vertical presentation with the limited table space we had. Chicken and onions were grilled nicely. There was a lingering spice, which I thought was from the salsa at first, but was later determined to be from the onions. (S) Spiiiicy, haaaaaaaaah.

Hamburger Combo: hamburger on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomatoes, wasabi mayo and spicy ketchup; onion rings, diet Pepsi. (J) I couldn't taste the spicy ketchup at all. I got the wasabi aftertaste after a while. Onions rings were very good and crispy. (S) The onion rings were really good with the curry mayo. Yumm. The burger was pretty good too!

Veggie Burger Combo: veggie burger on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, guacamole and curry mayo on the side; poutine, root beer. (J) Dry. You could taste that it was a veggie burger, unlike at Casey's. Poutine was good but salty. (S) Mmm...NYF poutine. I didn't mind the veggie burger, it wasn't bad!

30th Birthday Menu

The Butcher Block Burger: served with side house salad with orange poppy seed dressing. (J) We had this before, but it was on sale so we had to get it again! Burger was good like before. I didn't taste orange in the dressing. (S) I liked the bacon bits in the salad. The burger was good again!

Casey’s Famous Back Ribs: full rack basted with Jack Daniel’s Budweiser BBQ sauce. Served with coleslaw and fries. (J) I felt like eating ribs this day, and they were on sale! I guess the BBQ sauce was different, but I was too busy eating to notice. (S) The ribs were pretty good. I liked dipping the fries in that BBQ sauce.

Apple Mary: apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, rolled oats, ice cream and caramel. (J) I was so full when it came time to eat this. The apples warmed up the ice cream, so it was a yummy melting mess to eat. I liked the rolled oats. (S) They kinda gave us the dessert way too early and the ice cream melted before we could really get to it. Owell, still good!

Fiesta Nachos: "melted cheese, piles of diced tomatoes, green onions, sliced olives and jalapeños. It’s a huge serving." Grapefruit juice. (S) The jalapenos were surprisingly not spicy, so I didn't have to eat around them. Grapefruit juice was sour >_< (J) It was huge. I wanted to keep eating.

The Butcher Block Burger: "Casey’s Classic burger with lettuce, tomato, dill pickle and red onion on a toasted bun." Sweet potato fries. (S) Sweet potato fries are so good. The burger was decent too. (J) Pretty good.

Matcha Green Tea Smoothie: "Japanese Matcha green tea blended with all-natural blueberry, raspberry, blackberry and strawberry purées, a splash of Ocean Spray cranberry juice and non-fat yogurt. Topped with fresh blueberries." (S) Tasted like Matcha + berries. I liked it, very impressed how the berries and matcha flavours complemented each other. (J) Great ingredients and flavours, but it was mostly ice.

The Amazing Vegetarian Burger: "Prepared with carrots, green zucchini, roasted garlic and a splash of balsamic vinegar with lettuce, tomato, dill pickle, and red onion." Served with sweet potato fries. (S) We're so healthy :P I forgot that it was a veggie patty and sweet potato fries are always amazing. (J) The fries were so good; crisp and delicate.

Cobb Salad: "Crisp iceberg lettuce topped with grilled seasoned chicken breast, green onions, tomatoes, Cheddar cheese, cucumbers, egg, bacon bits [and] ranch dressing on the side." (S) This was huuuge, I really liked that they separated all the ingredients for some reason. It came with an AMC movie ticket. (J) It was cold and seemed to last forever. Interesting presentation.

Chargrilled Hamburger: (J) Patty was overcooked and kinda hard, or maybe it was the Kaiser bun that was hard. (S) I didn't mind it, just add ketchup!

Rotisserie 1/4 Chicken & 1/3 Rack BBQ Ribs: with multigrain roll and fries "poutine-ized". (J) Ribs were the star of this plate; fall off the bone and tasty sauce. S was influenced by the poutine ad on the table. (S) I was bad, but the poutine was good! Yea, chicken was pretty good, but the ribs were fall-off-the-bone awesome!

Pecan Pie: (J) Good like last time. Sweet and chewy. (S) I want to make this at home...*drools

Texas Burger Combo: with fries upgraded to a poutine, and Diet Coke. (S) We felt like we didn't get enough poutine in Montreal, so we settled on some Burger Palace poutine. No cheese curds :s The burger was juicy though! (J) Yeah no curds, but the portion was big. It tasted like truck fries. The burger was quite satisfying.

Bourbon Whopper Combo: Bourbon flavoured sauce, onion rings, bacon and cheddar cheese. (J) I couldn't taste the onion rings. (S) I liked the sauce, it had a mesquite flavour.

Steakhouse Burger Combo: Angus beef patty, crispy onions, cheddar cheese and steak sauce. (J) I preferred this burger. The meat and sauce tasted good, and the onions were crispy. Good dinner on the road. (S) I was so hungry at this point, I almost ate more than half the burger!

BuskerFest

Pasta ($3): in rose sauce from The Old Spaghetti Factory. (J) Hit the spot. It also came with a $5 off coupon at the Spaghetti Factory. I need to learn how to make my own rose sauce. (S) I'm a big fan of the thicker tomato sauce. This was good.

Sweet Couscous ($3): raisins, dates, cinnamon and other things from The Sultan's Tent. (J) Tasted better than I thought it would. The dates were filling. (S) Yea, I agree. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, and I really like cinnamon.

Kettle Corn ($6): large bag from Hand Popped Kettle Corn. (J) We didn't get a warm bag, but it still tasted good. (S) It's got better flavouring than the other Kettle Corn place.

Angus Beef Burger ($5): from Buster’s Sea Cove. (J) A seafood place selling beef burgers eh? I liked the crispy bun. (S) OMG...I really wanted to get another one. The bun was soooo good!

Corn Dog: regular size from Mitch's Monster Dogs. (J) They were out of regular sized dogs, so we got a freshly made batch. (S) You could feel the freshness through the napkins, it was steaming!

Free Samples: carrot cake, pizza/quesadilla (?), pickle, and water. (J) We caught the end of a cooking demonstration and just lined up for the free food. (S) Yep, good timing!

Regular order: honey garlic wings, fries, and dill dip from St. Louis Bar and Grill. (J) I don't even like St. Louis wings, but I go anyways for the really good fries and dill dip. (S) I like the wings, but the fries and dip are awesome!

Pizza: vegetarian slice from Pizza Pizza. (J) The slice was tiny. (S) Yea, I don't know why I was craving pizza.

Hot Ice Cream Waffle: (J) Perfect balance of hot and cold. (S) I was tempted to get another one.

Buffalo Burger: 100% pure Canadian bison 6 oz. (J) I was confused by the two animal names on the sign, so I looked it up and North American bison are called buffalo. Good burger with that wild meat taste. (S) I like the taste of wilderness.

Beaver Tail: Killaloe Sunrise (cinnamon sugar and lemon juice) from BeaverTails. (J) Hot right from the fryer. Good sugar particle crunch and lemon tang. (S) Texture was good, lemon fit in well with cinnamon.
