Mr. Greek

Spanakopita: with pineapple juice. (J) Oddly this wasn't listed in the appetizer section of the menu and we had to ask for it. I liked the crispy pastry. (S) So light and flakey.

Lamb "Arnaki" Fournou: slow roasted lamb shank. (J) The lamb was nice and soft, but I would have preferred some sort of sauce. We had to pay extra for tzatziki as it didn't come with our meal. (S) Why doesn't tzatziki come with the meal?? The lamb was huge, and so soft & fall-off-the-bone good. I really liked the veggies too. Rice is always so yummy!

Grilled Kalamari (J) I was glad that there were no tentacles. Big pieces and not rubbery. (S) The calamari was so smooth, and easy to eat. Very good flavour.

Le Parc

Catherine & Anthony's Wedding

Hors d'oeuvres

Smoked salmon on bread, spanakopita, chicken skewer, spring roll and shrimp. (J) I liked the crispy spring roll the best. (S) I liked the spanakopita!

Dinner

Suckling pig with jelly fish, deep fried crab claws, baked salmon with veggies, pumpkin soup with mushrooms, mushroom and scallops with snow pea leaves, deep fried chicken, baked lobster, fried rice and e-fu noodles.

(J) I really liked the lobster with the butter and garlic flavours. I wasn't feeling too well so I couldn't eat my noodles. (S) Everything was exceptionally good. I was thoroughly impressed with the food. The lobster was the highlight for me. It was so tasty.

Dessert

(J) Great selection of fruits and cakes. (S) I didn't get a chance at the pineapples :s

Mr. Greek

Bread & Salad: (J) I didn't touch the bread knowing it would make me full. We did take it home though, where I found out it was actually garlic bread! It had real chopped up pieces of garlic and was delicious. (S) Yea, didn't touch the bread, but it was a nice buttery surprise. Salad was pretty standard, good stuff.

Spanakopita: spinach pie with feta cheese in fillo dough. (J) Haven't had this in a while. Warm and flakey. (S) Spanakopita is always so good. The flakey texture, spinach, and cheese make it such a yummy treat.

Yiayia’s Moussaka: eggplant, zucchini, potatoes and beef. Served with rice. (J) Dry on the top, but moist at the bottom. (S) The rice is so good. This was like a sheppard's pie but with extra ingredients.

Classic Lamb Souvlaki: fries, vegetables and tzatziki. (J) Lamb tasted good and was cooked well. (S) Lamb so succulent. Veggies so yummy too!

Scarboro Golf & Country Club

Gary & Vivien's Wedding

Hors d'oeuvres

Champagne cocktail, chicken skewers, meatball, battered shrimp, spanakopita. (J) My favourites were the shrimp and spanakopita. Cocktail was nice and fruity. Unfortunately I didn't get to try a meatball. (S) Spanakopitas were the best! I could have had so many, but I didn't want to spoil dinner. I didn't get the try the battered shrimp.

Soup: carrot and ginger soup. (J) Tasted exactly how it sounds. (S) Exactly. I liked that it was nice and thick.

Salad: Boston bibb lettuce with oven roasted tomatoes and bocconcini cheese, basil and balsamic vinaigrette. (J) I liked the texture of the cheese. (S) I liked the sweetness of the vinaigrette and the tomatoes. I've never had to cut my lettuce before though; that was fun.

Chicken Entree: herb roasted chicken breast with a shallot and cremini mushroom sauce, cheddar and bacon potato croquette, cauliflower and green beans. (S) I liked the mushroom sauce on the chicken, and it wasn't dry. (J) I liked the sauce too. I thought the croquette would be fried and crispy, but it wasn't.

Beef Entree: 8 oz beef strip loin with a thyme infused red wine sauce, cheddar and bacon potato croquette, cauliflower and green beans. (S) The beef was so nice. I liked how it was tender, and the gravy was really good too, I dipped everything in it (and so did J). (J) The sauce made the meat tasty.

Dessert: creme brulee with fresh berry sauce. (S) This creme brulee was so good! I liked the big portion because I like creme brulee. (J) The creme brulee was huge and creamy. I liked the sweet berry sauce.

Dessert Table

Wedding cake, chocolate cake, eclair, fruits, butter tart, carrot cake. (S) I was way too full to eat all this. The tart was really good though. (J) The wedding cake was lemon and moist. There were so many LaRocca cakes to choose from; I wanted to try them all, but I was too full.

BuskerFest

Rotini & Tomato Sauce: $3 (J) I was disappointed that there was no rose sauce like last year, but the tomato sauce was tangy good and the pasta was al dente. (S) This is tradition. We get it every time, too bad there were no coupons for the Old Spaghetti Factory this time.

Angus Burger: $5. (J) Meaty goodness. (S) The burger was pretty good!

Spinach Pie: aka spanakopita $3.50. (J) This was really good. I liked how there was spinach in the whole spiral. (S) Yea, it was packed full of spinach.

Kettle corn: small bag $4. (J) We got the small bag this time because we could never finish the large one. Sweet and salty flavours mixed perfectly together. (S) Wasn't freshly popped, but still good as always.

Taste of the Danforth

Brazilian Sandwich: beef, onions and Brazilian sauce $5. (J) I don't know what Brazilian sauce was. The onions were caramelized and tasty. (S) I liked the beef and onion combo...yumm...

Elk Taco: $3. (J) Not sure what the elk tasted like, but the other ingredients made the whole thing taste good. (S) It was very refreshing.

Spinach Pie: $3. (J) Flaky dough was good. (S) YUMM!!!!!

Strawberry Smoothie: $2. (J) Good and sweet. Hit the spot after several savoury treats. (S) So cheapo compared to other drinks in the area.

Pork Souvlaki: $3. (J) Big and juicy. (S) Good thing we got there early before the lineup, it was so good!!

Chicken Gyro: $5. (J) We wanted lamb, but they only had chicken or pork. Always satisfying. (S) I was pretty full after this. The fries are a nice touch.

BioBest: probiotic yogurt smoothies free samples. (J) Drinks were always appreciated with all the eating and high temperature. (S) Free probiotic-goodness.

Custard Pie: $2.50. (J) Extremely flakey and not too sweet. Just a little bit of custard inside. (S) I must get this and the spinach pie each year. So good!!

Popsicles: lulo and lukuma flavours, 2 for $5. (J) We tried the exotic flavours. Lulo was sour like a pineapple, but refreshing. Lukuma was an odd flavour, I guess like a prune. The latter was more filling because it was made with milk. (S) The popsicles made my lips itchy for some reason, but they were interesting to try anyways.

Mango Smoothie: $2. (J) Still thirsty so we had to get another one. I was disappointed that they just used syrup and ice, and not real fruits. (S) Still good on a hot day!

Winter Magic: Ice, Wine & Dine

Location: Elm Street, Toronto ON
Website: http://www.wintermagic.ca/icewinedine

Cheese & Spinach Pies ($4): from Eggsmart. (S) I am always up for yummy spinach pies! (J) We took bites to show the insides. They were cold but still tasty.

Sampling Plate ($5.65): from Commensal Vegetarian Cuisine. (S) Oh man, this was soooo good! I wonder what dressing they used on the spinach salad, it was really good. The bean salad was super! Sweet potatoes, burrito and tofu were really good too! (J) I like how they make vegetables taste so good.

Mini Pot Roast Sandwich ($4) & Mini Deep Fried Mars Bar ($1): from Duke of Somerset. (S) The sandwich tasted really good and fatty with the horseradish mayo. We were OMG-ing with one bite of the mars bar. Soooo good! (J) I liked the hamburger bun. The Mars bar was so warm and creamy, and the perfect guilt-free portion size.

Hot Chocolate & Apple Muffin ($5): from Fresh Start Coffee. (S) We replaced coffee with hot chocolate and it was really good on a cold day (although it really wasn't too cold). We didn't want to ruin our appetite, so we didn't eat the muffin. I'm excited to eat it later though. (J) The guy had to leave us alone and run across the street to get a small mixing pot to make our hot chocolate. It was so bizarre and funny.

Chicken Satay & Spring Rolls ($5): from Bangkok Garden. (S) The fried spring roll was the best item on this dish; nice and crunchy. The rice rolls had a lot of cilantro, enough said. Chicken wasn't bad. (J) Way too much cilantro in the rice rolls. Chicken was dry. Spring rolls were awesome.

Butter Chicken & Garlic Naan ($3): from Delta Chelsea Hotel, served with complementary apple cider. (S) I miss Naan and curry! This was really good! There was a good amount of chicken for a sample. (J) Pretty good for $3. Cider was like really good and warm apple juice.

Shrimp Fritter ($1): from Adega Restaurant. (S) More dough than shrimp. Fried things always taste good though. (J) There was sauce inside, or the shrimp was sweating.

Chili & Garlic Bread ($5): from Wolf & Firkin Pub. (S) Ohh man, the lady filled this bowl up until it was overflowing. It had a bit of spice to it, but I recently started to really like those beans so I ate it anyways. (J) So much chili! I was filled.

Gingerbread & Apple Cider (Free): from The Queen and Beaver Public House. (S) Not a big fan of the gingerbread, too gingery for me. (J) I like free. I wonder if the cider was the same as from the Delta Chelsea hotel because they tasted the same.

Cupcake ($1): from Pretty Sweet, sold at Arm Candy Casa. (S) So cute! It was a 1-bite cupcake, yumm. (J) So tiny.

Mushroom Risotto ($5): from Donatello Restaurant. (S) I waited a long time for this and by the time we got it we were so full...but we stuffed it down anyways. It was pretty good! I liked the mushrooms. (J) The mushrooms were plump and juicy. The rice had a nice firmness and I think a hint of cheese.
