CNE

Pizza: Hawaiian and deluxe slices with pop $5.50. (J) We had a coupon for a free slice with the purchase of a slice and drink. Nice thin crust with lots of ingredients. (S) I think this was the healthiest meal we had today.

Deep Fried Butter: topped with powdered sugar and various sauces $5. (J) Lighter than I expected. The middle was hollow and filled with melted butter. The salty middle balanced well with the sweet toppings. (S) I was expecting to see more butter, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

Ice Cream Waffle Sandwich: $3.50. (J) Ours didn't last too long because the ice cream was already melting before they made it. (S) Yea, boo! I wanted another one to make up for this one, but that would have been too much.

Breakfast Mac and Cheese: with egg and sausage from the Mac & Cheesery. (J) Egg was burnt on the bottom. Pasta was kinda mushy. Top tasted good, but the bottom parts were tasteless. (S) I liked the sausages and the top, cheesy layer. Otherwise, the mac & cheese tasted like nothing.

Chicken & Curly Fries: from Kentucky Style Chicken. (J) The chicken didn't have any herbs or spices. It was cooked well though. Fries were stuck together, which made them hard to eat. (S) Lesson learned: if you want fried chicken, go to Popeyes or KFC. There was no seasoning on this.

Montreal Style Poutine: (J) Not on their menu, but a special on the chalkboard. I'd like to know where in Montreal they serve poutine with potato slices and no cheese curds. Potatoes were peppery and still a bit hard. (S) So true...I was disappointed with the lack of cheese curds.

Greek Salad: with house dressing. (J) Standard salad. (S) Yup, standard greek salad that took a while to get to us...

The Classic: stuffed Chicago style house combination pizza; house made Italian sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms. (J) I liked the real tomato chunks on top, and the crust part with cheese inside. (S) I liked that the sauce and other ingredients were separated by crust.

Pizza & Salad: vegetarian pizza (zucchini, peppers and feta cheese on whole wheat) and garden salad with Italian dressing. (J) Pizza tasted healthy. Salad had tons of dressing on it, which made it very tangy. (S) The guy poured too much dressing on the salad. The pizza was kinda soggy, had to support the bottom at multiple points in order for it to not flop over.

Panini & Soup: turkey club panini sandwich (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado) and some sort of vegetable soup with pasta. (J) Panini was good. Soup had a special name that I forgot. I liked that it had lots of vegetables. (S) Someone spilled the soup but covered it up nicely :P Very hearty soup, filled me up, couldn't finish my half of the sandwich. The bacon was kinda soggy I think.

Complimentary Bread

Wild Mushroom Pizza: "brie cheese, wood-fire roasted button, oyster + portobello mushrooms, fresh basil" with cranberry juice. (S) OMG, this pizza was so good. The crust was so thin and crispy, and held all the ingredients very well. The mushrooms and cheese were a good mix. (J) I really enjoyed the brie and meaty mushrooms. It was very satisfying without being too heavy on the stomach. Thanks to Vincent for the free coupon!

Linguini Pollo e Pesto: "grilled chicken, pesto cream sauce, plum tomatoes, pine nuts, parmesan." (S) I really liked the extra nutty texture. (J) Creamy and delicious.

Corn Dog: regular size from Mitch's Monster Dogs. (J) They were out of regular sized dogs, so we got a freshly made batch. (S) You could feel the freshness through the napkins, it was steaming!

Free Samples: carrot cake, pizza/quesadilla (?), pickle, and water. (J) We caught the end of a cooking demonstration and just lined up for the free food. (S) Yep, good timing!

Regular order: honey garlic wings, fries, and dill dip from St. Louis Bar and Grill. (J) I don't even like St. Louis wings, but I go anyways for the really good fries and dill dip. (S) I like the wings, but the fries and dip are awesome!

Pizza: vegetarian slice from Pizza Pizza. (J) The slice was tiny. (S) Yea, I don't know why I was craving pizza.

Hot Ice Cream Waffle: (J) Perfect balance of hot and cold. (S) I was tempted to get another one.

Buffalo Burger: 100% pure Canadian bison 6 oz. (J) I was confused by the two animal names on the sign, so I looked it up and North American bison are called buffalo. Good burger with that wild meat taste. (S) I like the taste of wilderness.

Beaver Tail: Killaloe Sunrise (cinnamon sugar and lemon juice) from BeaverTails. (J) Hot right from the fryer. Good sugar particle crunch and lemon tang. (S) Texture was good, lemon fit in well with cinnamon.

Beer Bistro

Website: http://www.beerbistro.com

Applewood Chicken: beer bread pizza. Stout brined, gouda cheese, caramelized onions, bbq sauce and coriander. (J) It was alright. I tasted chicken and BBQ sauce. Good to dip in mussel broth. (S) It got a bit dry as it got cold. Not bad though.

Brussels Mussels: mussel bowl steamed in beer broth; affligem, smoked sausage, tomato, hot chili, fennel, parsley and garlic. Served with a loaf of Cantillon Sour Dough. (J) My favourite part of dinner. You got a lot of mussels. The broth tasted really good. (S) Sooo good, lots of mussels and beer broth!

Belgian Frites: house-made mayonnaise & smoked tomato ketchup. (J) Good fries and mayo, but the ketchup still tasted weird to me. The first time I ate this I was full of Wendy's, so I enjoyed myself more on this occasion. Good to dip in mussel broth. (S) I like the ketchup, I asked for a second cup :P

Family Fun Day

Location: The Interchange Centre, Vaughan ON
Website: http://www.drjayfoundation.com/

The Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation Tickets ($15) included: Loot bags with Harry Potter (S) and Speed Racer (J) DVDs, 1 round at Putting Edge Fun Centre Mini Golf, coupons, and all the food below.

Snack: chocolate chip cookies from Open Window Bakery. (J) I really liked the dough part of the cookie, which reminded me of the flakey shortbread of Dad's chocolate chip cookies. (S) Sooo many chocolate chips, yumm.

Drinks: taro and mango bubble tea from Our Thai. (J) Regular stuff. (S) Taro was too dilute, and mango was too sweet, but they were free (kinda) so can't expect much.

Lunch: pepperoni and cheese pizza slices (Domino's), hot dog and sausage (Chicago 58), water and pop. (J) I was disappointed that there was no veggie hot dog. I got two slices of cheese pizza because they were small. (S) Sausages 2 days in a row, I am so healthy!

Dessert: frozen yogurt from Ikea. (J) Classic. (S) So good on a semi-nice day.
